What to Expect
Going through an evaluation for yourself or your child can feel overwhelming. At Soaring Minds, we aim to ensure the process is smooth and comfortable. This page details what to expect during an evaluation with us. If we have not answered your questions here, don't hesitate to reach out!

15 minute call
During this free 15 minute call, we will discuss your concerns and needs regarding an evaluation for yourself or your child. During this call, we will gather your contact information, send relevant forms, and schedule your intake appointment. An invoice for your individualized evaluation package will be emailed to you, and 50% of the balance is due prior to the intake appointment.

Intake appointment
In this virtual intake appointment, you'll answer questions about yourself or your child as the initial step in the evaluation process. The appointment will take approximately one hour. Please ensure that all forms and rating scales sent to you are completed before this meeting. At the conclusion of the call, we will schedule the in-person evaluation.

Evaluation
During this in-person appointment, we will administer necessary assessments based on your individual needs and concerns. The testing may include cognitive and achievement assessments, autism evaluations, and/or additional interviews. For school aged children and older, testing is completed one on one with the evaluator. For younger children, parents may need to be present to help facilitate components of the evaluation. This process can take up to four hours, and can be split into two sessions if your child is unable to complete the process in one session. However, we will take any needed breaks in order to gather the most accurate and reliable results possible.

Report Review
Once the evaluation report is complete, we can meet virtually to review the results and answer any questions that you may have. The report will include recommendations for you or your child so that you can take the next steps towards management, treatment and services. This 30 minute appointment is included in your evaluation package.
